SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

In spiritual direction we meet one-on-one for the purpose of seeking God, responding to God, and deepening in relationship with God.

Christian spiritual direction offers a safe space for you to slow down, reflect, listen, and encounter God for the purpose of deepening your relationship with Him.

A Christian spiritual director provides spiritual companionship as a listener and as one who holds space for you to meet with God and grow in intimacy with Christ.  The relationship between you and your spiritual director is one of trust, in which focus is placed on the presence of God in  your life - by being attentive to the true director, which is the Holy Spirit.

As a spiritual companion, the spiritual director comes alongside you for the purpose of paying attention to the activity of God in your life. A spiritual director offers sacred space to explore your relationship with God, to grow in awareness of God’s presence and work in your life, and to better understand how to live in relationship with God.

A spiritual director is a trained listener who encourages and provides safe, non-judgmental space for prayerful attention to your relationship with God. The Christian spiritual director supports your growth in intimacy with Christ by offering sacred space for meaningful encounter with God.

How is Christian spiritual direction helpful? Spiritual direction offers space for you:

  • to slow down, reflect, listen, and encounter God in a safe space

  • to explore and interpret experiences with God

  • to share joy, pain, desires, and fears

  • to deepen your relationship with God

  • to discern during seasons of transition or changes in life

  • to receive inner healing through confession and forgiveness

  • to gain understanding in the spiritual seasons of life

  • when you have doubts or questions about God

Christian Spiritual Direction is Trinitarian at its very core. Steeped in a three in one theology of God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit, in spiritual direction:

  • We respond to God the Father who seeks those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:24)

  • We focus on Jesus Christ who invites us to abide in Him as our source for life. (John 15:4)

  • We are attentive to the particular work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the individual. (John 14:16-17)

The agenda of Christian spiritual direction is for the directee to know God, to grow in capacity to hear God, and to mature in faith and obedience to God.
